Found this book of musical exercises for flute while I was searching through bins at a Goodwill store this morning. I hadn’t picked up my flute in years, but I still cherish the years I spent playing it in both marching and concert bands. I loved everything about being a musician except auditioning. Playing wasn’t a problem but having someone listen to me perform one-on-one? Instant nausea. The flute was the only instrument I ever developed even the most rudimentary skill at playing, though I played around with my friends’ saxophone and trumpet. If I could learn a new instrument at this stage of my life, though, it would have to be piano.
